Chillicothe — A new mural in the downtown is in the process for approval. A old-fashioned postcard-like print is planned for the west wall of the Chamber of Commerce at 45 East Main Street.
It will be a “vinyl wrap” that is applied with heat, can be removed without damage, and is graffiti-resistant. It’s the same as the Ohio University Chillicothe mural that has been installed by the same contractor on the side of the alley at 81 North Paint Street.
This will be the fourth ‘public’ mural in the downtown. One is catty-corner to this location, at the former Horizon / Chillicothe Telephone. Others are at the northwest corner of Mulberry and Second streets, and beside 81 North Paint. A fifth across from the courthouse was lost when Fifty West Brewing renovated the former Huntington Bank addition.
The Chamber mural was approved by the Chillicothe Design Review Board on Thursday, which oversees any exterior changes in the historic district in their monthly meetings.
