CIRCLEVILLE, OH – A new business is adding a splash of color, creativity, and faith to downtown Circleville just in time for Pumpkin Show week. Funky Pumpkin, located at 155 West Main Street, is the newest addition to the local shopping scene — and it’s anything but ordinary.

Owner Morgan Muncy, a Circleville native, said she created Funky Pumpkin to give the community a “warm, welcoming, godly space” filled with unique home décor, retro clothing, and handcrafted items from local vendors.

“I really just wanted to create a space where people could feel comfortable and inspired,” Muncy said. “I was doing some secondhand selling online, but I felt God leading me to do something more — something that could bring people together in person.”

Muncy credits her inspiration to her love for vintage style and the encouragement she received from Terry and Keith, who helped her find and prepare the Main Street location. “They really believed in me and gave me the confidence to make this happen,” she said.

Inside Funky Pumpkin, customers can browse a variety of one-of-a-kind treasures — from 1970s-inspired furniture and colorful décor to handmade candles, pottery, and jewelry. The shop also features work from several local artists and small vendors, including:

  • Lavender Meadow from Chillicothe, known for products made from her own lavender fields.
  • Rachel and Renee, who design custom earrings, magnets, and bookmarks.
  • Sisters Two, offering framed collages and artwork celebrating local Circleville schools.
  • Jenny Lee’s Candles, known for hand-poured candles and natural body care.
  • Earthly Pottery, featuring distinctive handmade ceramic pieces.

When it comes to design, Muncy said her style is rooted in nostalgia and individuality. “Growing up, my grandparents’ house was full of 70s décor — funky greens, oranges, and patterns. I’ve always loved that vibe,” she said. “Everyone should have something unique in their home — something that shows personality.”

The shop’s name, Funky Pumpkin, reflects both that creative energy and its Circleville roots. “I don’t really follow a theme,” Muncy laughed. “It’s just a mix of everything — funky, fun, and full of heart.”

Faith also plays a central role in the business. A verse from Proverbs 16:9 is displayed inside the shop — a daily reminder for Muncy of the trust and courage it took to open her doors. “That verse really spoke to me the day I decided to do this,” she said. “It’s about trusting God’s plan and letting Him guide the process.”

Funky Pumpkin will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and features special hours during the Circleville Pumpkin Show.
