Chillicothe — Richard McQuirt is the new 4th Ward councilman…another newly appointed council member filling in for a resignation. He sat in his first council session Monday evening, with an easy agenda of only three items – but also an executive session.

McQuirt said the Ross County Republican Party reached out to him, though he has “never done politics before.” He says he repairs cars at his home on East Second Street.

Also like other recent appointments, McQuirt is running in the fall election to keep the council seat. He says he will be knocking on doors and making appearances at upcoming meet & greets.

The Fourth Ward is north of Main and south of the Scioto River, east of a stairtstep of Paint, Mulberry, and Bridge streets – and east of Douglas and north of Eastern avenues.

McQuirt was sworn in on July 2nd, with his son holding his Bible.
