Motorcycle Evades Police in Ross County, Accompanying Vehicle Cited

CHILLICOTHE, OH — A high-speed incident unfolded on the evening of Friday, May 16, 2025, when Ross County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle on SR 772 near Easterday Rd. The event, logged as case SO-P2502181, occurred at 9:07 PM and involved multiple violations.

According to the report, Sgt. Riege and Deputy Morgan were patrolling the area when they observed a motorcycle abruptly leave a gas station, exceeding the 55 MPH speed limit and crossing the center line. When deputies initiated a traffic stop, the motorcycle fled, and the rider appeared to throw an object during the pursuit. The chase was eventually discontinued for safety reasons.

Sgt. Riege returned to the area where the object was thrown and noticed a vehicle, which had been at the same gas station, stop in the vicinity. Upon investigation, the vehicle was found to have fictitious registration plates, and the driver was operating under a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, resulting in a citation and the vehicle being towed.

The motorcycle remains at large, and the investigation into the incident continues.
