Chillicothe — Monday was Memorial Day, and annual ceremonies were held at six cemeteries in town and out in Ross County by the Ross County Honor Guard. I video-recorded rifle volleys, taps, and a few words at two Chillicothe cemeteries, as well as a pilgrimage by the Sons of Union Veterans in one.
In Chillicothe’s Grandview Cemetery, the day started with Civil War music, a flag raising, and a brief address by Ross County Honor Guard Chaplain Bob Leach. The guard gave a rifle salute, and then departed for St. Margaret’s Cemetery.
Remaining in hilltop Grandview, the Sgt. Enderlin Camp No. 73 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War switched from music to marching, and led their audience to four graveside presentations and taps.
Then in Greenlawn Cemetery in Chillicothe’s East Side, the Ross County Honor Guard provided rifle volleys and taps at Soldier’s Circle and Soldier’s Square, with a few words of explanation by chaplain Bob Leach

Watch the activities in the four videos below. Also see the schedule for the day’s ceremonies, as well as see a video of the address at Chillicothe’s Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, in a previous story.
