CIRCLEVILLE TOWNSHIP, OH — September 8, 2025 — Firefighters from across Pickaway County and beyond battled a massive barn fire early Monday morning in the 20000 block of Island Road.

Pickaway Township Fire Department (PTFD) was dispatched at 3:38 a.m. to reports of a barn, RV, and vehicle on fire. When crews arrived, they found a large barn connected to three silage silos fully engulfed and already collapsed.

Because of the fire’s size and difficult access to the property, PTFD requested mutual aid from multiple surrounding departments and additional tankers for water supply. The fire was finally contained around 8:30 a.m.

Officials said no injuries were reported, but the fire required a “large number of personnel and resources” to bring under control.

PTFD expressed gratitude to Clearcreek Township Fire & EMS for covering EMS calls in both the township and the City of Circleville while crews were on scene, as well as to the many departments that assisted:

  • Circleville Fire Department
  • Harrison Township Fire Department
  • Scioto Township Fire Department
  • Southwest Pickaway Fire District
  • Saltcreek Tarlton Volunteer Fire Department
  • Pic-A-Fay Joint Fire District
  • Tri-County Joint Fire District
  • Box65
  • Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office
  • South Central Power Company

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
