
Lancaster, OH – June 4, 2025 – Lancaster Police Department officers were hailed as heroes today after their swift and coordinated response saved a woman in distress on Mount Pleasant. At approximately 3:14 PM EDT, dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a suicidal female on the edge of the mountain, threatening to jump.
Officers Brandon Eveland (#1428), Luke Ayers (#1351), Jim Schorr, Jr. (#151), Brian St. Clair (#331), Trent Temper (#1235), and Mike Jones (#1429) responded to the scene. Sergeant Welsh (#997) launched a drone to search the area, quickly locating the woman near the edge, matching the caller’s description.
Officers Eveland, Ayers, and Temper hiked up the trail on foot, while St. Clair and Schorr used a UTV to approach. Officer Jones arrived in his personal vehicle to provide Hostage Negotiation Team support if needed. As the woman was distracted by the wind and the drone, Officer Eveland approached from behind, securing her to safety.
Without swift intervention, and responsible policing things could be reported diffrently today.
Chief Snyder praised the officers’ actions, noting their bravery and teamwork reflected great credit on the department. An edited drone video of the incident and the call log sheet were provided for review.
