LANCASTER, Ohio — The Lancaster Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 9-year-old child seriously injured Monday evening.
Officers responded to a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. on October 6 in the 400 block of Summitview Drive after reports that a child had sustained a gunshot wound inside a home.
When officers arrived, they located the injured child and another juvenile witness, who was not harmed. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
The child was airlifted to a Columbus-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said there is no threat to public safety, and the investigation remains ongoing.
