WESTERVILLE, Ohio (Aug. 31, 2025) – Seniors across central Ohio will enjoy added savings this week as Kroger’s Columbus Division celebrates older shoppers with a special one-day discount.

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, customers age 55 and older will receive an extra 5% off their total in-store purchase. To qualify, shoppers need only present their Kroger loyalty card or alternate ID and inform the cashier at checkout.

“Kroger is proud to support our senior shoppers with meaningful ways to save,” said Mark Bruce, Corporate Affairs Manager for Kroger’s Columbus Division. “This special discount is just one way we can give back to those who have supported our stores for years.”

The discount applies to a wide range of items, from fresh produce and pantry staples to over-the-counter medicines and household goods. Exclusions include alcohol, tobacco, fuel, gift cards, prescriptions, and other restricted items.

The promotion comes as families wrap up Labor Day weekend and prepare for the cooler months ahead. Kroger officials say the discount is a chance for seniors to stock up on seasonal favorites, quick meal solutions, and items from the store’s Our Brands collection, which includes more than 17,000 affordable products.

In addition to this event, many Medicare Advantage recipients can use their Food and OTC Benefit cards at Kroger for eligible groceries and medications. Shoppers can also save by using Kroger Pickup, Delivery, or the Boost by Kroger Plus membership program, which provides additional savings, grocery delivery, and fuel discounts.
