WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Kroger’s Columbus Division has launched a new Verified Savings Program aimed at expanding food access by offering significant discounts to customers who receive government assistance.
Announced Tuesday, the program provides 20% off fruits and vegetables and 50% off Boost by Kroger Plus memberships for eligible customers. Those who qualify include recipients of programs such as SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, the National School Lunch Program, Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefits, and others.
“Making fresh food more affordable and equipping more customers with free grocery delivery is an incredible step in expanding food access,” said Mark Bruce, Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Kroger’s Columbus Division. “With the launch of the Verified Savings program, we are thrilled to make fruits and vegetables more affordable and eliminate one more barrier to food security in our mission to end hunger.”
Customers can enroll online using SheerID, a third-party verification service that confirms eligibility. Once verified, customers must maintain an active Kroger digital account, and the produce discount is automatically loaded. Verification is valid for five months, after which customers must reverify to remain enrolled. The 20% produce discount is valid through January 31, 2026.
In addition to grocery savings, eligible customers can receive half-off Boost memberships, including:
- Boost Essential: $34.50 per year or $4.50 per month
- Boost: $49.50 per year or $6.50 per month
Current Boost members who qualify can apply the discount at renewal.
Boost by Kroger Plus benefits include free delivery on orders of $35 or more, double fuel points, member-exclusive offers, and, for annual members, access to a streaming bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+ (with ads).
Kroger also highlighted nutrition-focused tools available through its app, including OptUP, which helps shoppers compare food health scores, and access to a free 30-minute virtual session with a registered dietitian for personalized nutrition and meal planning support.
Customers can learn more and enroll in the Verified Savings Program through Kroger’s website.
