LAURELVILLE, OH – September 2, 2025 — Just weeks before the 6th Annual Glass Pumpkin Festival, Jack Pine Studio has unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 Pumpkin of the Year—or rather, pumpkins.

This year’s design theme, “One Wicked Night,” inspired two dazzling creations: a Green Pumpkin, shimmering with bold aventurine sparkle, and a Pink Pumpkin, glowing with a periwinkle-to-pink shimmer. The dual release pays homage to the timeless Wizard of Oz theme of glittering mischief versus gentle glow.

“These pumpkins are showstoppers,” said Jack Pine in a release. “They’re not just seasonal art pieces—they’re collectibles that highlight the magic of glass artistry. I chose ‘Wicked’ as our 2025 theme because I love the how the story looks at the choices we make along the Yellow Brick Road of life, the play of good versus evil and the way two sides come together,” said Pine. “Once I settled on that, I knew we had to create two Pumpkins of the Year.” Pine added that he and his team view which pumpkin will be the favorite festival guests as competition of sorts and they’re excited to see Which Witch is the Winner.

The pumpkins will debut during a special charity preview night, One Wicked Night, on Thursday, Sept. 18. The event will feature a gourmet dinner, live music, and the first opportunity for attendees to purchase the new designs. Proceeds will support the Laurelville Food Pantry.

A pumpkin inspired by Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, is a swirling rosy pink with an iridescent textured surface, gleaming golden spines and a delicate opaque pale pink stem. Pine’s homage to Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, is shiny-smooth deep emerald green highlighted by smoke-like swirls of chartreuse. A black hat-inspired top and stem ultimately twists into a lighter green with deep green flecks.

The Glass Pumpkin Festival itself will showcase dozens of local artists, live entertainment, food vendors, and of course, Jack Pine’s signature glass pumpkins. The 2025 Pumpkin of the Year pieces will also be available at this fall’s Circleville Pumpkin Show.

Led by the complex characters of Glinda and Elphaba, writer Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel “Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz” offered endless inspiration for Jack Pine and his team of artists and creatives to build an unforgettable Emerald City experience, complete with favorite characters and the convincing call of the yellow brick road. Maguire’s novel and its musical adaptations for cinema and Broadway have won multiple Golden Globe, Oscar, Grammy, Tony awards among other accolades.

Festival organizers say the works are expected to be among the most sought-after collectibles of the season.
