CHILLICOTHE, OH — Incarcerated men at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution (CCI) recently organized a nonperishable goods drive to support individuals experiencing homelessness in the local community.

Using their own commissary funds, participants purchased food and hygiene items, which were collected and donated to Ross County’s Community Action Homeless Shelter. Staff members at CCI assisted by delivering the donated items on behalf of the incarcerated population.

Officials say the effort reflects a commitment to giving back and fostering a sense of responsibility and community engagement among those incarcerated at the facility. Staff members who supported and encouraged the initiative were also recognized for promoting service and positive involvement beyond the prison walls.

The donation drive provided much-needed supplies to the shelter and highlighted how acts of generosity can make a meaningful impact within the Chillicothe community.
