CINCINNATI, OH — A Honduran national has been sentenced to 10 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally reentering the United States following multiple prior deportations.
Jorge Alberto Marroquin Membrano, 47, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati by Judge Matthew W. McFarland. Membrano was originally arrested in Hamilton County in August 2024, where he had been caught stealing from a local Kroger store while using an alias.
According to court documents, Membrano was fingerprinted after his arrest, which revealed his true identity and extensive immigration history. He has been deported multiple times and has three prior convictions for illegal reentry into the United States.
Membrano pleaded guilty to the federal immigration charge in December 2024.
The case was investigated by the Southern District of Ohio Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle E. Margeaux. The investigation was conducted as part of Operation Take Back America, a federal initiative launched under Executive Order 14159, aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal activity.
Kelly A. Norris, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Jared Murphey, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit, announced the sentence Tuesday.
Operation Take Back America brings together resources from the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and programs like the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) to target repeat immigration offenders and combat related criminal activity.
