LOGAN — A 19-year-old Logan man was killed early Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Hocking County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred just after 5:30 a.m. on State Route 664 near Huston Road. Kalind Freeman, 19, of Logan, was driving northbound in a pickup truck when he lost control on a sheet of black ice.

Authorities reported the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hocking County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators said Freeman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and troopers also determined the pickup did not have working seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
