A hit-skip crash on U.S. Route 23 in Pickaway Township remains under investigation, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver who fled the scene.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 5:44 p.m. along southbound US-23, just north of a crossover in Pickaway Township.

Troopers say three vehicles were traveling southbound when traffic slowed for a vehicle attempting to turn left into the crossover. Investigators report that one vehicle changed lanes from the right to the left lane, cutting off another vehicle. That action caused a chain reaction, forcing a driver to swerve and sideswipe a third vehicle.

The vehicle that allegedly initiated the unsafe lane change left the scene before authorities arrived. The crash has been classified as a hit-skip and remains unsolved.

Two vehicles sustained minor damage. A 2019 Kia Forte driven by a 32-year-old Chillicothe woman and a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 78-year-old Chillicothe man were involved in the secondary collision. No serious injuries were reported. The roadway was cleared just before 7 p.m.

Troopers are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash — or who may have dash camera footage from the area around that time — to come forward.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
