CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that troopers will conduct an OVI sobriety checkpoint this week in an effort to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

Officials will release the county where the checkpoint will be held one day prior to the operation. The exact location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

Law enforcement urges drivers to plan ahead if they intend to consume alcohol by designating a sober driver or arranging alternate transportation.

“Don’t let another life be lost to the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired,” the Patrol said in a release.

Local law enforcement agencies will provide operational support during the checkpoint.
