Chillicothe and Anywhere around Ross County That Can be a Movie Set — Chillicothe Council passed a resolution to create the “Greater Chillicothe Ross County Film Commission.”

Local filmmaker Daniel Griesheimer saw the unanimous vote on Monday evening, July 14th, and was happy with the result. He said his first project under way is to bring a feature film production to town, with its director from Cincinnati.

He says the commission is designed to help the arts community, encourage local jobs, and benefit the local economy.

Griesheimer has not been sitting still, as the resolution went through the usual three readings. He said he has been working with other production companies and major motion pictures “to get Chillicothe on the map.”

He said he has three indie companies coming to film…bringing their salaries to spend locally. As early as this September you can see filming here, including at Paper City Coffee.

Griesheimer says he is creating Facebook groups and pages and other social media for the commission, as well as “monthly mixers” and other incentives for filmmakers. He also shares posts on his own Facebook page.

Hear him in his own words in a video that had his wife filming us, plus a photo-bomb. Learn more in my story on the first reading of council’s resolution on June 9th.

Local filmmaker Daniel Griesheimer lists his ongoing efforts even as the film commission is being created.
