Huntington District Targeted Eight Times Since January
The situation in Fairfield County follows an alarming trend in Southern Ohio. Ross County Sheriff George Lavender reported that the Huntington Local School District has been targeted by eight separate threats since January 13, the latest occurring this Wednesday.
The frequency and nature of these incidents have led Sheriff Lavender to request federal assistance. The investigation now includes:
- Federal Agencies: The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
- State Partners: The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Ohio Department of Public Safety, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
- Local Cooperation: Numerous state and local agencies assisting in tracking the origins of the communications.
Community Safety Priority
Law enforcement officials acknowledge the high level of anxiety these disruptions cause for families and the broader community.
“Please know that the safety of students and staff is our top priority,” a spokesperson for the investigation stated. Authorities have committed to sharing additional information as it becomes available and appropriate for public release.
