CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – July 23, 2025
A Frankfort man has died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon in Union Township, Ross County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Joseph Leeth was riding a 2002 Yamaha XV1700 southeast on Maple Grove Road, about a half-mile south of Mt. Carmel Road, when the motorcycle veered off the left side of the roadway around 3:20 p.m.

Troopers say the motorcycle struck a fence post and a utility guy-wire before overturning and coming to rest in a nearby field.

Leeth, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered critical injuries and was flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.

Emergency crews from Union Township Fire and EMS responded to the scene, and Maple Grove Road was temporarily closed for approximately two hours during the investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Chillicothe Post continues to investigate the crash.
