CHILLICOTHE, OH – Ross County Sheriff’s deputies working at the 2025 Ross County Fair responded to complaints on August 5 regarding a group of young males reportedly causing a disturbance near the horse barn.
According to Deputy Zachary McGoye, deputies were advised around 4:13 a.m. that a group of five males were yelling profanities at other fairgoers and creating a public nuisance. The group was later located by officers in a dark Subaru sedan parked in the general parking area near Gate 1.
Upon investigation, deputies learned the group did not pay admission to the fair and had consumed alcohol while spending time in the campground area. The young men were evasive when questioned about where they had been on the grounds and who they had been with, offering vague or incomplete answers.
Authorities attempted to follow up with the original complainant, but contact could not be made.
As a result, all five individuals were barred from the remainder of the 2025 Ross County Fair and warned that returning would result in criminal trespassing charges. Arrangements were made for each of them to be picked up by family or friends and escorted off fairgrounds property.
The driver was permitted to return the following day to retrieve the locked vehicle but was instructed to leave the premises immediately afterward.
The incident remains closed, pending any further reports.
