
SALT CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pickaway County — A two-vehicle collision sent five people to area hospitals Wednesday morning after a driver attempted a left turn onto State Route 159 and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the crash occurred at 9:56 a.m. on August 13, 2025, at SR-159 near Jackson Road. The sheriff’s report states a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic was turning left from Jackson Road onto SR-159 when it was hit by a 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz traveling northeast on SR-159.
Injuries and transport: Multiple occupants from both vehicles were transported by Circleville EMS, Green Township EMS, and Salt Creek Township EMS to Adena Regional Medical Center and Berger Hospital. The report lists injuries consistent with suspected serious injuries for several occupants, including three elderly people, and a 6-year-old.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed by Fletcher’s Towing.
Citation: The driver of the Chevrolet, a 74-year-old Columbus man, was cited for failure to yield at a through highway (ORC 4511.43).
Conditions and response: The crash happened in daylight on a dry, clear roadway. Deputies arrived at 10:08 a.m., and the scene was cleared at 1:38 p.m.
