
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, OH — Emergency crews responded to a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning on Interstate 71 northbound near the 67-mile marker by the rest area.
According to Jefferson Township Fire and EMS, the crash occurred around 5:00 a.m. and involved a vehicle that was struck by another driver who fled the scene. The impacted vehicle was significantly damaged but, fortunately, the sole occupant was not injured — thanks to properly used seat belts and deployed airbags.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
This incident could have been much worse. We’re thankful for the safety features that prevented injury and now need the public’s help to identify the other vehicle involved.
