UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is crediting quick action and teamwork for saving a driver’s life after deputies discovered an unconscious person inside a vehicle filled with propane gas along US-35 on November 20, 2025.

Deputies were dispatched after callers reported a driver slumped over the wheel of a running vehicle. When Sergeant Kyle and Deputy Ennis arrived, they found a hazardous scene: multiple propane tanks inside the vehicle were actively releasing gas, saturating the enclosed space and creating a life-threatening situation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputies immediately moved in, working with Fayette County EMS to remove the unresponsive individual from the vehicle. EMS crews provided emergency treatment on-site before transporting the patient to a nearby hospital for further care.

Officials emphasized that incidents like this can turn deadly in moments. The calm, coordinated, and decisive actions of both deputies and EMS personnel “very likely saved a life that day,” a department spokesperson said.

The Sheriff’s Office said it remains proud of its team and the work they do every day to protect the community—especially in situations where seconds truly matter.
