Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Pickaway County

PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred early Wednesday morning in Scioto Township, leaving one woman dead and another driver uninjured.

The crash took place on May 14, 2025, at approximately 6:51 a.m., according to the Circleville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Authorities responded to the scene on State Route 104 near milepost 21 in Pickaway County.

Karen Jones, 68, of Orient, was driving a 2022 Hyundai Venue eastbound on Southern Point Boulevard. According to investigators, Jones failed to yield at a stop sign while attempting to make a left turn onto State Route 104. Her vehicle was struck by a 2018 Peterbilt flatbed truck hauling a Caterpillar D4 bulldozer, driven by 59-year-old Terry Hughes of Lockbourne, who was traveling southbound on SR 104.

Jones was transported to Grant Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Hughes was not injured in the crash.

Responding agencies included the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, Scioto Township Fire Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
