
LANCASTER – Fairfield County Municipal Court wrapped up sentencing for several misdemeanor cases this week, with offenses ranging from resisting arrest and assault to drug paraphernalia possession and failing to confine a dangerous dog.The dispositions, covering violations that occurred between July and November 2025, were finalized during the week of December 1–5, 2025:
- Gregory A. Barnes, 62, of Pleasantville, was sentenced for resisting arrest (M2) that occurred on October 6. He received a $25 fine and 90 days in jail with all 90 days suspended.
- Lance R. Kastely, 24, of Carroll, pleaded to possession of drug abuse instruments/parts without prescription tags (M3) from an incident on November 22. He was ordered to pay a $160 fine.
- Tony E. Mason Jr., 48, of Lancaster, was convicted of assault (M1) stemming from a July 28 incident. He received 180 days in jail with 176 suspended, leaving 4 days to serve, and was credited with time already served.
- Roger H. Gentry, 40, of Stoutsville, was found guilty of failure to confine a vicious/dangerous dog (unclassified misdemeanor) on July 4. He was fined $25.
- Shane M. Carpenter, 41, of Lancaster, pleaded to theft (M1) from November 26. He received a $25 fine and 180 days in jail with 180 days suspended.
- Thomas E. Miller II, 41, of Lancaster, was sentenced for possession of drug paraphernalia (M4) on September 10. He was fined $25.
All defendants were ordered to have no further similar violations and most received credit for time served where applicable.The cases were prosecuted by the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office and handled by Judge Patrick Harris in Fairfield County Municipal Court.Court officials note that while the offenses are relatively low-level, the volume reflects ongoing issues with property crimes, domestic disputes, drug-related activity, and dangerous-dog complaints across the county.
