Time is running out for Apple customers to claim their share of a $95 million settlement involving the company’s Siri voice assistant. The lawsuit, which accused Apple of recording user conversations without consent, is nearing its July 2, 2025, deadline for claims.

The class-action suit, Lopez v. Apple Inc., alleged that Apple devices equipped with Siri captured conversations even when users didn’t activate the feature with the “Hey Siri” command. Some of those conversations, according to the complaint, were allegedly shared with advertisers. Apple denied any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the case in 2024.

Who is eligible?

Anyone in the U.S. who owned or purchased an Apple device with Siri enabled between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024 may be eligible for compensation. That includes millions of iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and HomePod users.

How to file a claim

Eligible users can file claims through the official settlement website by July 2. Users can submit claims for up to five devices, with an estimated payout of up to $20 per device. Actual payments will vary depending on how many claims are filed and legal fees deducted from the fund.

To file, click “Submit Claim” at the top of the site. You’ll need to enter your name, address, and the serial number and model of each eligible Apple device. If you received an email notice, you can use the provided confirmation code. If not, select “New Claim.”

What happens next?

A final court approval hearing is scheduled for August 1, 2025. If the judge approves the deal and no appeals delay the process, payouts could begin later this year.

Users who file a claim automatically waive their right to sue Apple over the same issue in the future. If you prefer to retain that right, you must opt out of the settlement.
