WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) joined House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and other Republican leaders this week to outline key provisions of the Working Families Tax Cut, which he says will deliver significant benefits for Ohioans.
Taylor emphasized that the legislation lowers taxes for working families, strengthens small businesses, invests in rural healthcare, enhances border security, and protects essential programs for vulnerable Americans.
“During the August work period, I spent time in Ohio’s Second Congressional District talking with local small business owners, farmers, and manufacturers about the issues most important to them,” Taylor said. “I heard over and over again how the Working Families Tax Cut is transforming lives by lowering taxes, helping small businesses grow, and revitalizing our main streets.”
Among the highlights of the bill:
- Rural Healthcare: Includes a historic $50 billion investment in rural hospitals. Local healthcare providers in southern Ohio confirmed the funding is critical for reaching underserved patients.
- Small Business Relief: Expands the 199A tax credit, which Taylor said has helped family-owned shops stay afloat during tough economic conditions.
- Agriculture Support: Permanently raises the Death Tax exemption, easing farm succession for families like Will Minshall’s, whose Pickaway County farm will celebrate 200 years next year. Additional provisions expand funding for agricultural trade programs and crop insurance.
- Made-in-America Cars: Incorporates provisions of Taylor’s USA CAR Act, creating a tax deduction on interest from the purchase of American-made vehicles to bolster U.S. jobs and supply chains.
Taylor also underscored that the measure prioritizes benefits for Americans in need while cutting off access to illegal immigrants, which he called “Ohio common sense.”
“The Working Families Tax Cut is paving the way for economic prosperity for hardworking Americans, and Ohio families are reaping the benefits,” Taylor said. “I was proud to support it and will continue advocating for the needs of Buckeye families in Congress.”
