CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Circleville Police Department had a grueling weekend, logging over 120 calls for service between Friday, April 10, and late Sunday night. The activity was marked by a series of arrests, domestic violence calls, and a report involving a person with a firearm.

Violence and Arrests

The weekend saw several escalations that led to police intervention:

  • Assault & Fights: On Saturday night, officers responded to a reported assault on Nicholas Drive and a fight on Lancaster Pike.
  • Person with a Gun: A high-priority call came in Saturday evening from Ridgewood Drive regarding a “message delivery” involving a person with a gun; a formal report was filed.
  • Domestic Issues: Domestic trouble calls were frequent throughout the weekend on Logan Street, South Scioto Street, and Georgia Road. Notably, an early Saturday morning dispute on East Mound Street resulted in an arrest.
  • Miscellaneous Arrest: Early Friday morning, an arrest was made following a miscellaneous complaint on East Main Street.

Theft and Property Crimes

Theft was a recurring theme for residents across the city:

  • Vandalism: Property damage reports were filed for incidents on Town Street and Chatham Court.
  • Vehicle Repossessions: Two vehicles were repossessed over the weekend—one on East Mound Street and another on US Route 23.

Public Safety and Traffic

The weekend ended on a somber note with an injury accident reported on North Court Street just before midnight on Sunday.

  • Fire/EMS: A fire alarm on Maplewood Avenue on Friday resulted in a squad transporting an individual to the hospital.
  • Runaway Juvenile: Police took a report for a runaway juvenile on Maplewood Avenue Sunday evening.

Administrative and Routine Patrols

Despite the high volume of criminal activity, officers remained active in the community:

  • Civil Process: Officers attempted to serve dozens of civil papers throughout the city. While many residents were “Gone on Arrival,” successful service was made on East Franklin Street, Fairview Boulevard, and Maize Court.
  • Warrants: Successful warrant serves or reports were processed on South Court Street and Georgia Road.
  • Extra Patrols: Frequent “Extra Patrol” checks were conducted on East Main, Logan Street, and East Ohio Street to maintain a visible police presence during the late-night hours.
