CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Eliana King, a candidate for Miss Pumpkin Show from New Hope Christian Academy, shared her thoughts and experiences as she vies for the coveted crown this year.

When asked what the Pumpkin Show means to her personally, King said, “I have grown up going to the Pumpkin Show, and it is something that I look forward to each year. It’s a few days where I spend non-stop time with my family and friends. I love being able to take a break from the busy world and just walk through the streets. It is a time like no other that I enjoy year after year. The Pumpkin Show has shaped my life growing up in Circleville because it has taught me to recognize and value the importance of our local community.”

Describing the event to someone who’s never been, she said, “You know the Pumpkin Show is around the corner when the leaves start to turn and the downtown streets of Circleville are closed. People from all over come to experience rides, parades, and the many vendors and everything pumpkin. Whether it is spending time with the people you love or eating too much food, the Pumpkin Show is truly the Greatest Free Show on Earth!”

King’s favorite Pumpkin Show tradition is the Miss Pumpkin Show contest itself. “Not only does this give people the opportunity to represent their school community, but you get to make memories that last a lifetime. This experience has been something that I personally have been looking forward to ever since my older sister participated in it. Having the privilege to be part of this as well has been truly amazing,” she said.

When asked about a personal accomplishment she is most proud of, King highlighted her achievements in running. “This past year, I completed my first half-marathon and was a regional qualifier for track. This reflects the hard work I put into my athletics year-round. Running has taught me to never give up and set goals. Since I started running, I strive to be my best each and every day and look for new opportunities to grow.”

King cited her sister as her greatest inspiration. “She has taught me to value myself and treat others with respect, as well as showing me what it looks like to be a leader. Her faith, love for others, and character are qualities that I strive to demonstrate in my own life.”

Her favorite pumpkin-flavored treat at the show is a family favorite: “Lindsay’s Pumpkin Donuts. My family and I get them year-round, and they always remind me of the Pumpkin Show!”

Looking back on her most memorable Pumpkin Show experience, King recalled, “Participating in the Little Miss Pumpkin Show parade with my best friend. I still remember getting ready, feeling confident, and telling my parents my face hurt from smiling so much during the parade. I loved having people cheer for me and support me, making it my most memorable experience.”

King said winning Miss Pumpkin Show would be a dream come true. “It would mean the world to me to represent the Circleville community in this way. The memories that are made and the friendships that are grown through this experience is something I would love to be a part of. Becoming Miss Pumpkin Show would open opportunities for me to encourage others to step outside of their comfort zone and try new things, as well as lead others with love and kindness.”

She offered this advice to younger girls dreaming of running for Miss Pumpkin Show: “Be yourself, show others who you truly are through your words and actions, and live in the moment. This is an amazing opportunity and experience, so make the most of the time you have been given.”

Eliana King will compete alongside other candidates for the 2025 Miss Pumpkin Show crown, taking part in the Wednesday Night Parade on October 15 before competing for Queen at Pumpkin Show Park.
