CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Police Department responded to more than 200 calls for service between December 23 and December 28, according to the department’s latest media call-for-service report, reflecting a busy stretch during the Christmas holiday period.

During that time, officers handled a wide range of incidents, including domestic disturbances, breaking and entering cases, thefts, fraud investigations, traffic stops, and multiple fire and medical-related calls.

Several arrests were made throughout the reporting period. Officers executed warrant arrests on East Main Street, Fairview Boulevard, Barry Drive and East Main Street, while additional arrests were made in connection with domestic trouble and breaking and entering cases on South Court Street and Highland Avenue. Police also responded to multiple reports of domestic disturbances across the city, some resulting in formal reports and arrests.

Property crimes were also reported, including breaking and entering incidents on South Pickaway Street and Edison Avenue, theft reports on Lewis Avenue and Dearborn Avenue, and vandalism along U.S. Route 23. Fraud investigations were taken on South Pickaway Street, Clinton Street, North Court Street and Avon Drive.

Officers conducted dozens of traffic stops during the five-day period, issuing both warnings and citations on major roadways such as U.S. 23, East Main Street, South Court Street, Walnut Street, and East Ohio Street. Several non-injury traffic crashes were also documented, including hit-skip and property-damage incidents.

Police responded to numerous suspicious person and suspicious vehicle calls, many of which were cleared after checks of the area or resulted in reports when subjects could not be located. Officers also handled repeated extra patrol requests and business checks, particularly during overnight hours.

In addition, Circleville police assisted fire and EMS crews with multiple alarm drops, carbon monoxide checks, gas and electric complaints, and fire-related calls. Several of those incidents resulted in squad transports to local hospitals, while others were determined to be accidental or non-emergencies.

Police also handled a variety of quality-of-life calls, including noise complaints, neighbor disputes, juvenile complaints, animal calls, well-being checks, and accidental 911 hang-ups.

Officials say the report highlights the increased call volume typically seen during holiday periods and underscores the department’s continued presence throughout the city to address both emergency and non-emergency situations.
