CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Olivia Gonzalez, a junior at Circleville High School, has dreamed of being Miss Pumpkin Show for years. This fall, she’s taking her shot at the crown, hoping to represent her community and carry forward one of Circleville’s proudest traditions.

For Gonzalez, the Pumpkin Show is about more than pumpkins and parades — it’s about the people. She describes the weeklong celebration as “the story of our great community and all it has to offer,” a place where small businesses, organizations, and families come together to create memories. “From the rides, to the food, and record-breaking pumpkins, there are things you just have to see to believe,” she said.

Gonzalez says winning the title would be both an honor and a responsibility. “Being Miss Pumpkin Show would be an incredible honor, a chance to give back to the community that has shaped me,” she said. “It would be a platform to inspire others to get involved and make a difference, ensuring the Pumpkin Show continues to thrive for generations to come.”

Her advice to younger girls who dream of one day wearing the crown? Always be true to yourself. “Stay kind, and never be afraid to chase big dreams,” Gonzalez said. “Confidence comes from being true to your roots and who you are, and that’s the most beautiful thing you can bring to the stage.”

Like many Circleville residents, she treasures the parades most of all, calling them her favorite tradition because of the way they showcase school pride and community spirit. She also points to her ability to balance schoolwork, activities, and volunteer work as her proudest personal accomplishment — proof, she says, of her dedication and commitment to others.

Growing up in Circleville, Gonzalez says the Pumpkin Show has shaped her deeply. “It gave me a sense of pride in our town and taught me the value of community spirit,” she said. “It’s more than just rides and pumpkins — it’s about celebrating where we come from and the people who make it special.”

Oliva will compete alongside other candidates for the 2025 Miss Pumpkin Show crown, taking part in the Wednesday Night Parade on October 15 before competing for Queen at Pumpkin Show Park.
