CIRCLEVILLE, OH — More than 40 students from Circleville City Schools kicked off their morning with a two-wheeled adventure during the district’s first-ever “Ride Your Bike to School Day” — a community-led effort to promote bike safety, healthy habits, and fun.
The event was spearheaded by two local parents, Bret Greiner and Eric Potts, who wanted to create a unique and enjoyable way to observe National Ride Your Bike to School Day while reinforcing the importance of safe biking practices for children.
“This was something Eric and I really wanted to do to encourage safe biking habits and give kids a fun way to get to school,” said one of the organizers. “It was amazing to see so many families come together for something so positive.”
Prior to the ride, organizers ensured all participants had helmets, functioning bikes, and a clear understanding of road safety rules. The route began on Edgewood Drive, where students met up with a Circleville Police escort. The group followed a carefully coordinated path from Route 188 and Nicholas Drive, traveled through the YMCA parking lot, and took a path that led directly to the school.

Support from Circleville Elementary School (CES) was instrumental in bringing the plan to life. Staff and city officials worked closely with organizers to ensure safety for all participants.
Dr. Halley, superintendent of Circleville City Schools, was seen along the route cheering on the students.
Organizers say the success of the event has already inspired plans to make it an annual tradition. “We’re grateful for the support from CES and the city, and we’re excited to do it again next year — even bigger and better,” they said.
