CINCINNATI — A federal grand jury has indicted a 38-year-old Cincinnati man accused of making online death threats against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

Anthony Marcus Kelly was charged Wednesday in a two-count indictment with making threats to assault or murder a U.S. official and with transmitting threatening interstate communications.

According to court documents, between June 26 and July 17, Kelly allegedly used the social media username “Slab” to post repeated calls for violence against ICE agents. Prosecutors say he detailed his plans to obtain firearms and threatened to “shoot for the kill” if confronted by law enforcement.

In one post cited by investigators, Kelly wrote that ICE agents were “rabid dogs that need to be put down.” In another, he warned: “You come here for me, you’re getting shot … I’m shooting for the kill.”

Kelly was arrested on July 22 and remains in federal custody.

Federal prosecutors noted that threatening to assault or murder a U.S. official carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The charge of making threatening interstate communications carries up to five years.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio, with assistance from the FBI Cincinnati Field Office and Homeland Security Investigations Detroit.

Officials emphasized that an indictment contains only allegations and that Kelly is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
