Chillicothe Police Respond to Vandalism, Assaults, and Child Endangerment on September 22

CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department reported a busy Monday, September 22, with officers responding to a wide range of calls, including vandalism, assaults, child endangerment, and multiple traffic violations.

The day began around 4:30 a.m. with a vandalism report on South Paint Street. A few hours later, officers were dispatched to Columbus Street after an assault complaint that remains under investigation. Additional disturbances were reported throughout the morning, including a disorderly conduct call on West Water Street and a disturbance complaint on Caldwell Street.

Officers also handled several traffic-related incidents, including a stop for failing to display proper plates on North Bridge Street, a motorcycle violation on South Paint Street, and multiple traffic citations later in the day. One driver was cited for failure to yield during a left turn at South Paint and 8th Streets, leading to a collision.

A theft complaint was reported at West Water Street just after noon, followed by a trespassing and disorderly conduct call near the East Main Street viaduct. Later in the afternoon, officers took a suspect with an active warrant into custody from the Jackson County Correctional Facility and transported him to Ross County Jail.

One of the more serious incidents of the day occurred at 5:07 p.m. on Dayton Street, when officers found a two-year-old child wandering in the roadway. Summonses were issued for child endangerment.

Evening reports included an assault on Lincoln Park, trespassing complaints at Tim Hortons on North Bridge Street, and disorderly conduct at McDonald’s on North Bridge. Officers also responded to a protection order violation on Ringwald Street, which resulted in a warrant request.

In total, police recorded 24 cases ranging from non-criminal complaints and traffic enforcement to more serious matters under active investigation.
