
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police officers handled a wide range of calls on Sunday, December 28, including thefts, domestic disputes, an assault, a drug overdose and a non-suspicious death, according to the Chillicothe Police Department’s daily media report.
Shortly after midnight, officers were dispatched to Herrnstein Auto Group on Marietta Road in reference to a theft. The investigation remains ongoing. Around 1:23 a.m., officers were called to Cross Keys Tavern on East Main Street for a disorderly incident, which is still under investigation.
At approximately 4:14 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of East 7th Street for a report of a non-breathing male. The death was determined to be non-suspicious, and the investigation is continuing.
Several domestic-related incidents were reported throughout the day. Officers responded to East 2nd Street around 5:54 a.m. and Theatre Street later in the morning for domestic disputes. Additional disturbance and disorderly conduct calls were reported on Warner Avenue and Rogers Parkway, with police making an arrest during the Rogers Parkway incident. That case involved a fugitive from justice, drug possession and disorderly conduct.
An assault was reported around 1:37 p.m. in the 30 block of South Brownell Street, while a criminal trespass complaint was handled later in the afternoon on North Brownell Street. Both cases remain under investigation.
Multiple theft cases were also reported, including theft complaints on Burbridge Avenue and Maple Avenue. Officers additionally responded to several shoplifting incidents at Walmart on River Trace. One incident resulted in a summons being issued, while a separate evening incident led to two arrests on charges related to shoplifting and complicity.
Police also responded to a reported drug overdose and disorderly conduct incident near Riverside Street and Hirn Street, where an unresponsive woman was found near the roadway. She was transported to the hospital, and a summons was issued.
In the evening hours, Chillicothe officers assisted the Ross County Sheriff’s Office in the search for a missing hiker with medical issues near Belleview Avenue and Plyleys Lane.
All cases remain under investigation unless otherwise noted.
