Chillicothe Police Respond to Series of Incidents, Including Arrest on Secret Indictment

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to several incidents across the city on Friday, October 17, 2025, ranging from criminal trespass and traffic violations to arrests on outstanding warrants, according to the department’s daily media report.

The day began around 8 a.m., when officers were dispatched to 1124 E. Main Street for a trespassing complaint. The investigation remains ongoing.

Later that morning, police responded to a call on Columbus Street regarding a report of a subject with a gun, which led to an investigation for misuse of the 9-1-1 system.

In the afternoon, officers conducted a traffic stop on West 5th Street, issuing a citation for failing to obey traffic control devices. Around 4:20 p.m., police investigated a hit-skip crash at Orange and North High streets.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., officers arrested Donald Krafthefer after spotting him riding a bicycle on North Bridge Street. Krafthefer was taken into custody on a secret indictment warrant issued by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office (Case #2451411).

Later that evening, police were dispatched to 558 Laurel Street for a theft report involving a possible violation of a protection order or consent agreement. Around 11:30 p.m., officers conducted a welfare check at 250 Riverside Street related to a warrant investigation, and shortly before midnight, another criminal trespass incident was reported on Cedarwood Drive.

In total, the Chillicothe Police Department handled nine cases throughout the day as investigations continue.
