Chillicothe Police Respond to Range of Incidents on August 31

CHILLICOTHE — City police handled a series of calls on Sunday, August 31, ranging from thefts and disorderly conduct to drug possession and a non-suspicious death, according to the department’s daily media report.

The first incident came just after midnight when an officer on patrol spotted an intoxicated man lying on the sidewalk of the N. Bridge Street bridge. The man was cited for disorderly conduct.

Minutes later, officers were dispatched to Pine Street after a caller reported a vehicle break-in. A short time after, crews responded to Plyleys Lane and Belleview Avenue on reports of an ATV crash caused by failure to maintain control.

At 1:34 a.m., officers were called to Adams Avenue on a reported domestic violence assault. Later, police responded to Moe’s Grill on East Main Street after a theft complaint. That case remains under investigation.

In the early morning hours, officers also initiated a traffic stop on Eastern Avenue for multiple violations, which resulted in charges for drug possession. Around the same time, police responded to a separate aggravated menacing and assault complaint on Lille Street.

By mid-morning, police were investigating a stolen vehicle from N. High Street. At 9:53 a.m., officers were called to Columbia Avenue for a report of a deceased individual. Authorities said the death appeared non-suspicious, though the case remains under review.

Additional calls throughout the day included:

  • Criminal trespass behind a property on N. Bridge Street.
  • Disorderly conduct on S. Watt Street.
  • Driving under suspension on Consumer Center Drive.
  • A welfare check on Walnut Hills Drive.
  • A second stolen vehicle on Prospect Street.
  • Drug paraphernalia recovered during a traffic stop on E. Water Street.
  • A theft complaint on Park Street.
  • A traffic stop and investigation on Amherst Drive that led to charges of drug possession, obstructing official business, and an outstanding warrant.

No major injuries to officers or civilians were reported in the day’s incidents. Investigations into the thefts, drug-related offenses, and vehicle crimes are ongoing.
