
CHILLICOTHE — Local officers were kept busy on Tuesday, August 26, with a variety of calls ranging from traffic stops to drug investigations and missing juveniles, according to the Chillicothe Police Department’s daily media report.
The day began just after midnight when officers made a traffic stop on South Bridge Street, citing a driver for failing to obey traffic control devices. Shortly after, around 2:16 a.m., another driver was stopped in the area of East Main and Ewing streets for failing to stop at a stop sign.
At 4:51 a.m., an officer patrolling Chestnut Street initiated a stop on a white van that had failed to properly stop. The investigation led to charges of having weapons while under disability and improperly handling firearms.
Later in the morning, police were dispatched to 228 North Bridge Street for a theft complaint. That case, which also involved open container and criminal trespass violations, remains under investigation.
Around 10 a.m., officers began looking into a forged check mailed from South Walnut Street. That investigation is ongoing.
At 12:36 p.m., police responded to a crash on Western Avenue involving failure to control. A report was taken.
Just after 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Par Mar store on North Bridge Street for reports of an unresponsive male. The case involves drug possession, criminal trespass, and a suspected overdose. The investigation continues.
At 1:53 p.m., officers initiated a juvenile investigation on Yoctangee Parkway involving drug paraphernalia and illegal conveyance.
The day concluded with officers responding at 7:28 p.m. to East Fifth Street, where two juvenile brothers were reported missing. They were entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as runaways.
The Chillicothe Police Department reported a total of nine cases for the day.
