Chillicothe Police Respond to Multiple Incidents Across City on Jan. 14

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police officers responded to a range of calls throughout the city on Tuesday, Jan. 14, according to the Chillicothe Police Department’s daily media report.

The day began with a non-criminal report taken at 10:04 a.m. for documentation purposes. Shortly afterward, at 10:36 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Paint Street near East Second Street, resulting in charges for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and a traffic violation related to obeying traffic laws.

At approximately 11:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Second Street for a report involving an unruly juvenile. Police said the investigation into that incident is ongoing.

Later in the day, at 12:29 p.m., an officer was approached by a passerby on North Bridge Street who turned in a wallet that had been found in the Lowe’s parking lot. The incident was documented as non-criminal.

Police were then dispatched at 1:04 p.m. to Kay Jewelers, 1075 North Bridge Street, in response to a reported theft without consent. That investigation remains pending.

In the early evening hours, officers responded to 718 Adams Avenue at 5:39 p.m. regarding a situation involving a protection order, which was reported as a disorderly conduct incident. Police said that investigation is continuing.

At 8:31 p.m., officers were called to the Speedway gas station at 10 North Bridge Street for a welfare check, which was also logged as disorderly conduct. No additional details were immediately released.

Just before 9 p.m., at 8:45 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash at 186 West Main Street, near Henderson Pharmacy. The crash involved an assured clear distance ahead violation, and the incident remains under investigation.

The night concluded with a traffic-related incident at 9:12 p.m., when an officer observed reckless operation and alleged street racing or drag racing while stationed in the parking lot of the Chillicothe Mall on North Bridge Street.
