Chillicothe Police Respond to Domestic Violence Incident Involving Firearm

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Chillicothe Police officers responded to a domestic violence call on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, on the 100 block of Elm Street involving the discharge of a firearm.

According to the police report, the victim told officers that her husband, David Copp, had dragged her by the hair into a bedroom and threatened her life before firing two shots near her head. The victim attempted to escape but was restrained by Copp during the incident.

The victim eventually broke free and ran to a neighbor’s house, who then called the police.

Copp now faces multiple charges,

  • FELONIOUS ASSAULT (  NO BOND)
  • RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY (  HOLDER)
  • UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT (  HOLDER)
  • HAVING WEAPONS WHILE UNDER DISABILITY (  HOLDER)
