CHILLICOTHE, OH — July 6, 2025 — Chillicothe Police were kept busy Saturday, July 5, responding to a range of incidents across the city, including assaults, thefts, drug possession, and fireworks-related damage.

The day began just after 1:00 a.m., when officers responded to Adams Avenue for a reported assault. A report was taken and the case remains under investigation.

Later that morning, police were called to 407 Schreiner Avenue for property damage, and at 12:02 p.m., officers checked on a welfare concern at the Executive Inn on North Bridge Street.

Shortly after, a call to Mill Street led to a report of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, as a subject reportedly interfered with officers during an incident.

Several thefts were reported throughout the afternoon:

  • Around 1:55 p.m., a theft was reported on Plyleys Lane.
  • Another theft call came in at 3:56 p.m. from River Trace Lane.

Multiple disorderly conduct incidents were also logged, including:

  • North High Street at 2:24 p.m.
  • Vine Street at 2:36 p.m.

Later in the evening, at 9:20 p.m., a traffic stop on Dayton Street resulted in a suspect being cited for possession of a Schedule I or II substance and an outstanding warrant.

As the night wrapped up, police were dispatched to South Brownell Street at 10:47 p.m., where multiple vehicles had reportedly been damaged by fireworks. The incident is under investigation and comes during heightened awareness surrounding fireworks misuse over the July 4th holiday weekend.

Other non-criminal investigations included welfare checks on Cheyenne Drive and unspecified activity on Mohican Court. One earlier report from Mill Street was later determined to have been issued in error.

Chillicothe Police continue to investigate several of these incidents and urge residents to report suspicious behavior.
