Chillicothe, Ohio – August 2, 2025 — Chillicothe Police were kept busy throughout the day on August 1, responding to a wide range of incidents across the city, according to the department’s daily media report. A total of 20 cases were documented, including an OVI arrest, multiple theft investigations, traffic crashes, and disorderly conduct calls.
Shortly after midnight, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Gilmore Street and arrested a driver for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), with a breath alcohol concentration of .17 or higher.
Later that morning at 10:37 a.m., police were dispatched to 38 River Trace Drive following a report of a stolen vehicle. That investigation remains ongoing. A separate theft was reported at Sunnyside Dispensary on North Bridge Street at 2:08 p.m., where officers met with a store manager regarding stolen merchandise.
Also on Friday, officers patrolling near Mary Lou Patton Park encountered a homeless camp near South Douglas Avenue. During the interaction, they identified Brad Carroll, who had an active warrant for failure to appear on a prior theft charge. Carroll was arrested and transported to the Ross County Jail, where he awaits a court appearance scheduled for August 4 at 9:00 a.m.
Multiple traffic-related incidents occurred throughout the day, including a crash involving a left-turning vehicle on West Water Street and another crash at Paint Street and 4th Street due to failure to maintain assured clear distance. Additionally, a citation was issued at 10:38 p.m. for failure to stay in marked lanes.
Disorderly conduct was reported twice — once in front of Houch’s Liquor Store on East Main Street, where officers observed two men arguing, and again in a separate domestic-related dispute later that evening at the Law Enforcement Complex.
The day ended with a burglary report at 1 Cheyenne Drive and a welfare check on Columbus Street just before midnight. Both cases are still under investigation.
Police noted that not all incidents resulted in formal reports or charges. For example, a minor traffic collision involving Harold Allison and Ronnie McCain was resolved without further action after Allison declined to press charges.
Authorities continue to investigate several of the day’s incidents and encourage anyone with information to contact the Chillicothe Police Department.
