Chillicothe Police Respond to 17 Incidents on March 1

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (March 2, 2026) — Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department responded to 17 reported incidents throughout the city on Sunday, March 1, according to the department’s daily media report.

The day began shortly after midnight when officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue for an active disorderly conduct complaint involving neighbors. The investigation remains ongoing.

About 30 minutes later, police conducted a traffic stop near Hickory and East Second streets for an expired registration.

At approximately 2:35 a.m., officers performed a walkthrough of the post office building on Central Center as part of ongoing concerns about individuals sleeping inside the facility after hours. The incident was classified as criminal trespass.

Around 4 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop at South Douglas and Eastern avenues. The stop resulted in a citation and an arrest on charges including possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.

Additional disorderly conduct complaints were reported throughout the day, including calls to West Water Street and South Paint Street. Investigations into those incidents are continuing.

At 9 a.m., a possible theft was reported on Columbus Street. Police say the case remains under investigation.

Officers were also dispatched to Dayton Street late in the morning for a trespass complaint.

Retail-related incidents made up part of the afternoon activity. Police responded to Walmart for a reported theft and receiving stolen property complaint. Another theft report was taken on River Trace Lane, including a separate shoplifting incident that allegedly occurred on February 22.

Just before 1 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Bridge and East Fifth streets for a traffic crash involving an assured clear distance ahead violation. The crash remains under review.

Later in the afternoon, officers responded to a threats complaint involving a juvenile at the McDonald’s – 1124 E Main St. A report was taken, and no further action was reported.

In the evening hours, officers conducted a traffic stop near East Water and Hirn streets related to a warrant investigation.

The final reported incident of the day occurred just before 9 p.m., when officers were dispatched to South Douglas Avenue for a 911 hang-up call that was determined to be a disorderly conduct matter. That investigation is ongoing.

Police say several of the cases remain under investigation.
