Chillicothe Police Report: Shoplifting Pursuits, Fraud, and Multiple Warrant Arrests

(CHILLICOTHE, Ohio) — The Chillicothe Police Department stayed busy through Thursday, March 26, handling a string of thefts, telecommunications harassment, and multiple warrant executions across the city.


Retail Theft & Shoplifting Intercepts

A dynamic shoplifting call highlighted the morning’s activity on River Trace Lane. At approximately 10:21 a.m., officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Kohl’s after a suspect allegedly stole items from the neighboring Walmart and fled into the Kohl’s department store. The suspect now faces potential charges for theft, criminal trespass, and an existing warrant.

Later in the afternoon, officers returned to the River Trace Walmart at 3:36 p.m. for a separate theft complaint involving criminal mischief. Investigations into both retail incidents remain ongoing.

Financial Crimes & Fraud

Local financial institutions were also targeted on Thursday. Officers responded to the Homeland Credit Union on Consumer Center Drive at 11:23 a.m. regarding a report of theft and fraud. Detectives are currently investigating the matter to determine the extent of the unauthorized activity.

Warrants and Traffic Stops

Police conducted several targeted enforcement actions throughout the day resulting in arrests:

  • Active Warrant: A male was processed into the Ross County Jail at 12:42 p.m. after being apprehended on an outstanding arrest warrant.
  • Main Street Stop: A traffic stop at 8:08 p.m. on E. Main St. led to an immediate arrest on an outstanding warrant.
  • Late Night Service: Just before midnight, officers served a warrant at a residence on S. Douglas Avenue.
  • Traffic Violations: A stop at E. Main St. and State Route 35 at 4:50 p.m. resulted in a citation for a driver operating under an FRA suspension (failure to maintain insurance).

Harassment & Community Assistance

The department addressed two separate cases of Telecommunications Harassment. One report was filed at the Law Enforcement Complex in the morning, while another involving threats was reported on N. High Street at 7:45 p.m.

Additionally, officers provided backup for Children Services (CPS) during a non-criminal call on E. 4th Street during the afternoon hours.
