
CHILLICOTHE, OH — The Chillicothe Police Department handled a wide array of calls on Sunday, March 8, 2026, ranging from drug possession arrests and warrant executions to reports of vandalism and disorderly conduct across the city.
Drug and Warrant Arrests
The day began early with multiple drug-related encounters. Just after midnight, officers on East Main Street apprehended a male with active warrants who was also found in possession of Schedule I or II substances.
Later that hour, around 1:40 AM, police were dispatched to CrossKeys Tavern on East Main Street following reports of a male experiencing an “altered mental status.” That individual was subsequently charged with drug possession and disorderly conduct.
In a separate incident on Columbus Street at 6:03 AM, a trespassing call at McArthur Gardens led to charges of obstructing official business and the discovery of another outstanding warrant.
Vandalism and Property Crimes
Property crimes were a recurring theme throughout the Sunday shift:
- Post Office Vandalism: Officers responded to the post office on South Walnut Street at 9:01 AM to investigate a report of criminal mischief.
- Hit-and-Run: Police were called to CJ Electric on West Main Street regarding a “hit skip” (hit-and-run) accident involving property damage.
- West Fourth Street: Another vandalism complaint was filed later in the evening at 7:30 PM.
- Theft: Early in the morning, a theft and criminal damaging report was filed on South Walnut Street.
Disorderly Conduct and Public Safety
Officers were kept busy mediating disputes and checking on residents:
- Domestic Disputes: Police responded to reports of possible domestic violence on West Main Street and a verbal altercation at Tobacco Discounters on North Bridge Street that was beginning to escalate.
- Threats and Harassment: A threats complaint drew officers to Mechanic Street in the late afternoon.
- Welfare Check: Sgt. Blakeman conducted a welfare check on an adult male at the request of his father on Old Eastern Avenue.
- Prisoner Exchange: At approximately 7:57 PM, Chillicothe officers met with the Logan Police Department on North Paint Street for a scheduled prisoner exchange.
Traffic Incidents
The day concluded with a traffic crash investigation at 1075 North Bridge Street around 8:13 PM. Earlier in the morning, a traffic stop on East Main Street resulted in citations for driving under suspension and failure to display proper license plates.
The Chillicothe Police Department notes that many of these cases remain under active investigation.
