
Chillicothe, Ohio (AP) — Chillicothe police made an arrest in a domestic violence case and responded to a range of other incidents Wednesday, including thefts, traffic crashes and a reported sex offense, according to the department’s daily media report.
Officers on patrol shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle on Prospect Street whose registered owner had an active warrant through the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The investigation is ongoing.
Around 3:48 a.m., an officer attempted to make contact with two juveniles on North Bridge Street for a possible curfew violation.
Throughout the morning, police conducted several traffic stops on Yoctangee Parkway, North Bridge Street and East Main Street for speeding and other city traffic violations. One stop on East Second Street resulted in a citation for driving under suspension.
Police were dispatched at 9:35 a.m. to the Ross County Law Complex regarding a disorderly conduct complaint reported earlier in the month. That investigation remains active.
At about 10:38 a.m., officers responded to a report of two people trespassing on railroad tracks near North Bridge Street. The case is pending further investigation.
School administrators contacted police shortly after noon regarding an allegation of disseminating material harmful to juveniles at Chillicothe Middle School. The incident remains under investigation.
Officers also responded to two non-injury crashes — one at North Bridge and East Main streets involving a failure to yield while making a left turn, and another at North Street and North High Street. Both investigations are continuing.
Two thefts were reported during the afternoon, one on North High Street and another on East Seventh Street. A separate parking complaint on East Second Street resulted in a vehicle being towed.
At about 6:30 p.m., police issued a traffic citation for reckless operation on private property on North Bridge Street.
Later in the evening, officers responded to a domestic incident on Madera Avenue. An arrest was made on suspicion of domestic violence and endangering children.
Police also investigated a criminal mischief complaint involving property damage at a local Walmart on River Trace Lane.
Shortly before midnight, officers were dispatched to Piatt Avenue regarding a reported sex offense. The matter was referred to another agency for further investigation.
In total, Chillicothe police handled 21 incidents on Feb. 18. Investigations in several cases remain ongoing.
