Chillicothe Police Log: Trespassing, Vandalism, Warrants Among Reports Filed May 14

CHILLICOTHE, OH — Chillicothe police responded to a variety of calls on Tuesday, May 14, 2025, ranging from welfare checks and vandalism to multiple traffic stops and criminal complaints, according to the department’s daily media report.

Among the notable incidents:

  • Warrant Arrests: Katherine Kurtz turned herself in to law enforcement on a municipal court warrant for failure to appear under subpoena. She was booked into the Ross County Jail. Another warrant-related arrest took place later that evening on Columbus Street.
  • Criminal Trespass Complaints: Officers responded to separate trespassing calls on North Bridge and Columbus Streets. One incident occurred at Gardens on Columbus Street, while another was reported at a local business earlier in the morning.
  • Drug-Related Activity: A suspicious person call at Globe Furniture on East Main Street led to an investigation into possible possession of drug paraphernalia and abuse instruments. That case remains open.
  • Vandalism Reports: Officers investigated several criminal mischief cases, including one on Warner Avenue believed to involve attempted burglary, and another later in the day on Fairway Avenue.
  • Disorderly Conduct: Police responded to Grace Fellowship Church on Mill Street for a report of a fight. One individual involved was also found to have an outstanding warrant.
  • Traffic Enforcement: Several citations were issued throughout the day. Violations included expired plates, seatbelt infractions, obstructed license plates, one-way street violations, and driving under suspension.
  • Juvenile Complaint: An unruly juvenile was reported on Arch Street. The matter is under investigation.
  • Property and Parking Issues: Officers addressed numerous parking complaints across the city, including a vehicle towed from Mill Street for parking in a clearly marked handicapped spot without authorization.
  • Theft Investigation: A theft was reported at the Law Enforcement Complex and remains under review.
  • Evading Officers: A black Nissan Altima was observed by police attempting to evade a traffic stop initiated by the Ohio State Patrol. The vehicle was tracked through multiple streets and the investigation continues.

Police also responded to several non-criminal calls, including welfare checks, found property, and suspicious vehicles.
