
Chillicothe, Ohio — Chillicothe police officers responded to a wide range of incidents across the city on January 7, according to the department’s daily media report, including multiple thefts, vandalism complaints, a non-suspicious death investigation and several disorderly conduct calls.
Just after midnight, officers attempted to make contact with a woman riding a bicycle on East Fourth Street in a case involving obstructing official business and a warrant. That investigation remains pending. Shortly afterward, police were called to an apartment building on East Fourth Street where a window had been broken, prompting a criminal mischief investigation.
In the early morning hours, officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Street for a report of a possible deceased person. Police determined the individual’s death was non-suspicious.
Throughout the morning, officers handled additional vandalism complaints on East Seventh Street and a reported domestic dispute on Walnut Hills Drive. Police also investigated a report of prohibited camping activity involving a homeless encampment on Kopp Street.
Several theft-related calls were reported across the city during the day, including incidents on East Main Street, Mill Street, North Bridge Street, River Trace Lane, North Paint Street and Redd Street. Businesses including Walmart, Coughlin Chevrolet and the Pilot Travel Center on East Main Street were among the locations where theft complaints were reported. All of the theft investigations remain ongoing.
Police also responded to reports involving a violation of a protection order at the Law Complex, threats complaints, non-criminal complaints, and a hit-skip crash at South Bridge Street and East Seventh Street.
Later in the day, officers made contact with a pedestrian on North Bridge Street, leading to charges related to possessing drug abuse instruments and a warrant. Detectives also opened an investigation into a possible sex offense on North Paint Street, though few details were released as the case remains under investigation.
In the evening, officers responded to a large disorderly incident on Mill Street and complaints of reckless driving and possible street racing in the Dunham’s parking lot on North Bridge Street. Another hit-skip crash was reported later that night, followed by a report of a stolen vehicle on North Bridge Street shortly before midnight.
Police said all investigations are ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
