Chillicothe Police Handle Variety of Incidents on July 10: Traffic Stops, Thefts, Arrests, and Suspicious Activity

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – July 11, 2025 — Chillicothe Police were kept busy on Thursday, July 10, responding to a wide range of incidents across the city, including multiple traffic stops, theft investigations, welfare checks, and an arrest tied to an outstanding warrant.

Arrest and Drug Paraphernalia Seizure

The day concluded with the arrest of Frankie Lee Tate around 11:43 p.m. near East Main Street. Officers observed Tate riding a bicycle without lights and recognized him as having an active warrant. Upon contact, officers also discovered drug paraphernalia and charged Tate with obstructing official business.

Thefts Under Investigation

Several theft reports were filed throughout the day, including:

  • A vehicle theft on Caldwell Street at 7:29 a.m.
  • A pool furniture theft on North Shore Drive
  • A fraudulent money transfer reported from the Law Enforcement Complex
  • A theft without consent on River Trace Lane
  • Another theft on U.S. Route 23 earlier in the evening

All incidents remain under investigation.

Multiple Traffic Stops and Citations

Officers conducted numerous traffic stops across the city for violations such as improper turns, stop sign violations, no motorcycle endorsements, and driving under suspension. Several stops occurred along Second Street, Bridge Street, and Court Street, with citations issued in many cases.

Trespassing and Suspicious Persons

Police responded to two reports of criminal trespass, one at First Capital Enterprises on Douglas Avenue and another at Planet Fitness on North Bridge Street. In both cases, officers dealt with suspicious individuals, and investigations are ongoing.

Crashes and Traffic Complaints

At least three crashes were reported:

  • A non-injury crash involving following too closely on North High Street
  • A crash on Western Avenue involving failure to yield
  • A Pennsylvania-plated vehicle crash near Yoctangee Park

Other Notable Incidents

  • A disturbance involving disorderly conduct was reported on Clay Street
  • Officers performed a welfare check on Cheyenne Drive
  • Found property was recovered at the Floyd Simantel Clinic on East Second Street

Throughout the day, officers were dispatched to various locations for non-criminal matters, custody disputes, and suspicious activity, all of which were either resolved or remain under investigation.
