CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police responded to a variety of calls throughout the city on Friday, January 9, ranging from traffic stops and theft complaints to a reported burglary and a drug-related investigation, according to the department’s daily media report.

Officers conducted several traffic stops during the day, including speed enforcement on Yoctangee Parkway near Mill Street, a motorcycle-related traffic stop on North Bridge Street, and additional stops on Cherry Street and South Walnut Street that resulted in citations or further investigation. One stop near South Walnut Street led to an ongoing investigation involving suspected drug trafficking, obstructing official business and a loud noise complaint.

Police were also dispatched to multiple theft complaints, including a reported larceny at 613 Central Center and another theft-related call that remains under investigation. Later in the evening, officers responded to a burglary report at a residence on East 2nd Street. That case is still under investigation.

Other calls included a welfare check on McKeller Street, a parking-related complaint near Sugar and Water streets, and a non-criminal matter involving the Circleville City School District and a child welfare concern on Akron Street.

Animal-related issues were also addressed when officers responded to a report of a dog at large on South Renick Avenue. Police contacted the owner, and the situation was resolved without further incident.

In total, Chillicothe police logged 14 incidents during the reporting period. Several cases remain under investigation, and no additional details were released.
